ABOUT

Huo Yiting was born in 1989 in Wuzhong, Ningxia. He now lives in Wuzhong.

The graduation from an art college in 2012 marked a watershed in my understanding of the world. After the halo of traditional education faded, over the past decade, I have been growing at an almost wild pace, shuttling through various dimensions of visual expression – from a graphic visual architect in the field of commercial design to a fantasy world builder in game art. From a contracted image narrator on the Kuaikan Comics platform to a concept sower at the art education scene. These identity slices eventually converged into a clearer coordinate in 2022: a creator who has always conversed with time and space in art as his native language.

In the current era where teaching and creation go hand in hand, I am increasingly convinced that art is the vernier caliper that measures the world. While institutional classrooms deconstruct classic paradigms, individual creations continue to break through established frameworks – those composition rules tamed in commercial commissions and the narrative impulses indulged in independent comics eventually all melt into highly recognizable visual grammars. This eternal swing between discipline and freedom precisely constitutes the unique frequency that resonates between me and The Times. While the digital torrent is reshaping the art ecosystem, I have always maintained a sense of vigilance in cross-dimensional creation. This is not an experiment to blur professional identities, but rather a conscious reflection of reality through a multi-prism: perhaps only by continuously breaking the barriers of creative media can more possible slices of this parallel universe be captured.

“I have no exhibition experience, no endorsement from a prestigious school, and even in a small 18th-tier city in the northwest of China, Wuzhong City, Ningxia, a place with a certain reputation for mutton and food. I’m an ordinary art student. I graduated from a third-tier university in 2012. It was from then on that I began to have the most basic understanding of the world. From then on, I started self-study. From 2012 to 2022, I was a graphic designer, a game artist, an independent comic author (signed with Kuaikan Comics), an art teacher, and so on. Currently, I am teaching at an institution while also creating. I engage in art because after experiencing many art-related jobs, I have found that it is the most ideal way for me to communicate with the world. Besides, there are all kinds of possibilities in this current era. But I promise that I’m a “person with something.”
